Doing something close to nothing
2015-6, acrylic fluid on canvas
This series focuses on in between time. Time we don’t use but miss when we don’t have it. This is not mindfulness. When the world slows down and there is no priority, nothing that must be done now. This time belongs to no one else.
Dry brush painting, quickly sketches a fleeting moment, in black and white simplicity. The quickly drying acrylic paint is matt – absorbing time and thought. The occasional silver setting shines but is hard to see in full.
Doing something close to nothing acknowledges certain nostalgia for wasted time, nostalgia for a place where there was more time and less that had to be done.
