Drawings rebound
2024-2025
What begins as a line on paper becomes, over time, a record of looking, aging, and change. Between 2001 and 2002, I began formal art training, including weekly life-drawing classes that shaped my early engagement with the body as subject and form. Over two decades later, those youthful drawings have been recontextualised into hand-bound artist books—abstracted, fragmented, and reframed through a more introspective lens. While traces of figuration persist, the work now reflects a shifting relationship between body, memory, and time. Photographing these books introduces a further layer of mediation, distancing both the original gesture and my present self. This series engages with temporal dislocation—where artistic practice becomes a site of estrangement, continuity, and reflection.
